Since forming in 1973 and it's first performance leading the Calgary Stampede Parade in 1975, the CPS Pipe Band has played an ongoing ceremonial role within the Calgary Police Service, in the greater Calgary community and beyond. In addition to performing at graduation parades, civic events, memorials and highland games, the band has had the opportunity to represent the Service, the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta throughout the country and numerous opportunities to represent internationally. The band is made up of serving officers and civilians who all volunteer their time to this high-energy band. Most years, these dedicated volunteers perform at over 70 events as a band and as individuals representing the Calgary Police Service. The Band performs under the direction and leadership of Pipe Major Stephanie West and Drum Major Mark Tallack with the permission of its Colonel-in-Chief, Steve Barlow
